Africa Now: April 2026 (DJ Mix)

The pan-Africanist ideal never died—it morphed into hybridised sonic fragments that connect Joburg to Nairobi via Lagos and Accra. Two of our favourite torchbearers of the continent’s far-reaching musical ingenuity are Nigerian twin sisters Wanni x Handi. For their Africa Now mix, the pair curated songs from some of the biggest names in Afrobeats and amapiano (Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, JAZZWRLD, GL_Ceejay, Uncle Waffles), the genres they say “genuinely move us, emotionally and physically”. “Afrobeats brings energy, storytelling and rhythm in a way that feels both powerful and celebratory,” Wanni says. “Amapiano, on the other hand, creates space—it’s soulful, immersive and built on groove. Together, they allow us to take listeners on a journey that feels vibrant, uplifting and intentional.” Hear the Wanni X Handi vision of Africa Now and check back each month for more one-of-a-kind mixes.
