FLAT BLACK

A hard rock band whose music grafts elements of nu metal and groove metal with a more traditional, hard-hitting attack, Flat Black is a project from former Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook. Though not dissimilar from Hook's work in 5FDP, Flat Black gives him a chance to put his acrobatic guitar work up front, and takes a more elemental approach without sacrificing its physical or emotional impact. Conceived while Hook was, like most of the world, waiting out the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Flat Black emerged fully formed with their first album, 2024's Dark Side of the Brain, and offered a striped-down variation on their songs with the 2025 acoustic EP Live from Sirius XM Octane.
