Early Hours (DJ Mix)

Early Hours can mean a few different things: Are you winding down after being up all night, or are you just rising to meet the sun? Often the artists helming Apple Music’s exclusive Early Hours DJ mix series cater to both frames of mind. “This mix can be enjoyed at the start of the day, poolside on a sunny afternoon or as the sun is rising after a big night,” KILIMANJARO tells Apple Music. “The beauty is in the fluidity. I try to approach chill-out sets with a fresh vision every time, but there are classics that always seem to stake their claim.” The London-based multihyphenate sets the tone with Samm’s chilled beauty “Body Language”, before bringing out a selection that’s like a big hug, perfect for winding down or easing yourself into the day. “My aim was to create that feeling of warmth and hope. The mix of vocals, instrumentation and percussion is intended to create a space for peace and optimism,” he says. “And if not, it’s just a blend of great records that make you feel good! I was really excited to put this set together, as due to the energetic nature of my shows, it’s a style that I rarely get to play out.” Listen and read on as KILIMANJARO highlights a new of his favourite tracks to spin in the early hours. &ME, Black Coffee, “The Rapture Pt. III” “A record that I’ve loved from the moment I heard it. Part three of the ‘Rapture’ trilogy, the track takes you on an emotional rollercoaster every time. I think the record coming from two heroes of mine, Black Coffee and &ME, makes it even more magical.” Francis Mercier, Von Boch, “Found Love” “Such a heartwarming record. Its iconic vocal married with this Afro-house foundation makes for an ideal chill set track. Also being produced by two friends of mine, Francis Mercier and Von Boch, makes it that extra bit special.” Jazzy, KILIMANJARO, “No Bad Vibes (Adriatique & Samm Remix)” “This remix of ‘No Bad Vibes’ is my personal favourite. Having been a massive fan of both Adriatique and Samm for a minute, it was a privilege to have them put this track together, and I’ve been slamming it out at every opportunity since we got it back.”
