About Emerson
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 7, I was a cast as a munchkin in the musical The Wizard of OZ. During show week, I was one of the few who was given a mic because I could hold the tune and stay on key. I even did backing harmonies off stage when I wasn't onstage. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Billie Eilish, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? Jeff Buckley, Grace Mk.gee, Two Star & The Dream Police All of these albums had such an impact on me in terms of my choice of lyrics and sounds. I can listen to them back to front and not get sick of them. They are all culturally impactful albums and gave me a new appreciation for music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Counting Sheep” I love the production on this: the baratone guitar and melody. We pulled from some very interesting references that are only now starting to be used in mainstream pop which is exciting. It's one of many collaborations w/ Harry Charles who is amazing. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? After the first songwriting session with my producer and co-writer Harry Charles, it was 6 hrs. I had 2 incredible demos and I remember listening to them in the car on the way home and feeling that these were going to launch my career. And they did. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I can't wait to play my first headline tour, both at home and internationally. There are a number of festivals I'm looking forward to playling, like Laneway and Coachella. And I'd love to be interviewed by Rebecca Judd and eventually Zane Lowe!
