About Sharon Marley
A singer, songwriter, and cultural custodian of her family's legacy, Sharon Marley has taken on numerous roles since beginning her career in the late '70s. The first child of Rita Marley and adoptive daughter of Bob Marley, she formed the family band the Melody Makers when she was in her mid-teens. Led by her younger brother Ziggy Marley, the Melody Makers enjoyed a successful run that included the Grammy-winning highlights Conscious Party (1988) and One Bright Day (1989). When the group split up in 2002, Sharon refocused her efforts away from the stage, heading the A&R department of the Ghetto Youths United label, founding the Kingston-based Total Care Learning Centre, and helping to manage her parents' foundations. In the 2020s, four decades after entering the music business, Sharon Marley launched a solo career that blossomed with the 2026 release of Firebird, her debut album.
