Selects is where the world’s best DJs and producers showcase their favourite tracks of any given moment, new and old, with no format restrictions. Up here is Danny L Harle, the artist and producer who’s worked with names including Caroline Polachek, Charli xcx, Dua Lipa, Florence + the Machine and PinkPantheress. His playlist is, as you might expect from a former PC Music star and hyperpop pioneer, brilliantly boundless. Where else might you find Monteverdi, Stravisnky and Bach mixed with Enya, DJ Encore, Anita Baker and Jason Derulo? (Perhaps more expected entries come from Sabrina Carpenter, Madonna, Charli xcx, Cecile Believe and yeule.) “This playlist is an example of the eclectic array of music I listen to every day,” Harle tells Apple Music. “I tend not to be guided by associations with particular subcultures or genres, but by how a piece of music makes me feel. Over time, I’ve noticed aesthetic, emotional and formal through lines in the music I’m drawn to. ‘Alien beauty’ and ‘euphoric melancholy’ are the closest I’ve come to describing the atmospheres I look for.” The goal for his 2026 album, Cerulean (out February), he says, “was to channel this essence into every track. I hope you hear what I hear.”
