Drawing influence from disco, R&B and hip-hop, UK DJ and producer James Hype repurposes older sounds to create ultra-modern, widely accessible music. • Enamored with the concept of DJing, Hype talked his mom into getting him a set of decks for his 15th birthday. He scored his first residency the following year. • He struck gold with “More Than Friends”, his first original single to receive a proper release. The 2017 collaboration with British singer Kelli-Leigh went Top 10 on the UK charts. • Hype provided Thursday night satisfaction as a resident DJ for British digital radio outlet KISS FM from 2017 to 2019. • In 2019, Hype delivered a dark, rumbling official remix of “God Is a Dancer” by Tiësto, the “Godfather of EDM”.
