About Experiential Orchestra
The New York-based Experiential Orchestra offers non-traditional concert experiences that invite audiences to participate in and be immersed in the music. The Experiential Orchestra was founded in 2009 by conductor James Blachly in 2009. He continued to hold the position of music director as of the mid-2020s. The Experiential Orchestra defines its mission as "inviting audiences to engage with orchestral music through non-traditional presentation styles and educational, interactive, and immersive concert experiences." The orchestra made its recording debut in 2020, appearing on the world premiere recording of Ethel Smyth's 1930 opera The Prison. The Experiential Orchestra returned to the recording studio in 2023 to make the album American Counterpoints: Julia Perry & Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson.
