Longleaf Lo-Fi

Longleaf Lo-Fi

The duo Muscadine Bloodline likes to keep it moving, releasing this second project of 2025 mere months after dropping …And What Was Left Behind. The pair composed of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton considers Longleaf Lo-Fi a more relaxed project than its predecessors, as they focus more on storytelling than the rough and rowdy vibe that characterises much of their earlier music. To achieve the lived-in intimacy, Muncaster and Stanton spent time in a cabin in Poplarville, Mississippi, writing and recording the album, allowing themselves to take their time so the songs could reveal themselves. Tracks like “Silence” find them in an introspective place, accompanying confessional lyrics with a simple, spacious arrangement. Love song “My Meridian” pays tribute to the Magnolia State, which, of course, borders the duo’s Alabama home. The band also released the album cut “Peter from Picayune” in time for Veterans Day 2025, honouring those who have served with a heart-wrenching account of a young man who joins the Marines and grows willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
