SUPERARTE

SUPERARTE

Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez have long—and, at times, shared—histories of collaborative wins. The former’s songwriting résumé and the latter’s erstwhile partnership with Dyland, not to mention both artists’ membership in Rich Music supergroup The Academy, served to make them a couple of Latin music’s most reliable team players. For SUPERARTE, they revisit reggaetón’s documented history of favouring vocal duos, vibing off of one another as well as a series of noteworthy guests. Opener “CHAMPAGNE” promptly captures their chemistry as singers, their harmonies and hooks reinforced soon afterwards on “ROOMSERVICE” and “THANK YOU BB”. The pair transition effortlessly into posse-cut position for “LAS ESTRELLA0S NO ESTAN TAN LEJOS”, supercharging its throwback perreo power with added force from Eladio Carrión and the vets Jowell y Randy. That persists for the veritable Academy side-quest “JERSY”, with Dalex, Sech and producer Dimelo Flow as smooth as ever. Whether bringing on unexpected musical elements with Blessd on “LAS NEAS” or simply in thrall to the dembow with J Balvin on “LA SENSA DEL PARTY”, Quiles and Tavárez leave little doubt about how well they excel.
