Xylitol

British electronic musician Catherine Backhouse's stylistically varied releases under the Xylitol moniker are united by her sense of curiosity and playfulness. Occasionally appearing as Astral Bunny or DJ Bunnyhausen, Backhouse began releasing lo-fi electro and minimal wave tracks on her own Pierogii-Disc imprint in 2006, mostly as limited CD-R or vinyl releases. She was a resident DJ at a Krautrock club, and started co-hosting a radio show dedicated to Central and Eastern European pop and electronic music. With Anemones, her Planet Mu-issued 2024 LP, she explored her love of jungle and garage. 2026 follow-up Blumenfantasie incorporated Krautrock, grime, and folk influences.
