About Augustin Hadelich
Violinist Augustin Hadelich combines beauty of sound and dazzling technique with an exalted sense of wonder that makes every performance feel like a special occasion. Born in Italy to German parents in 1984, Hadelich started out as a virtuoso wunderkind before moving to America in 2004 to study with Joel Smirnoff at New York’s Juilliard School. (He became a naturalised citizen in 2014.) Such was Hadelich’s impact that by the time he made his 2010 debut with the New York Philharmonic, he was already an established recording artist, excelling equally in the Baroque intricacies of Telemann and Bartók’s hard-boiled modernism. Always looking for new ways to communicate with audiences, he gave a sensational series of online performances during the pandemic under the banner Hadelich at Home 2020, for which he pre-recorded the piano accompaniments himself, and produced Ask Augustin, an engaging series of 46 instructional videos on subjects as wide-ranging as vibrato, motivation and stage fright.
