Yokez

What you see isn’t everything you get with bubbly girl-next-door artist Yokez. Having started out on various singing and songwriting competitions, she’s known for her inventive covers of both English-language and Mandarin classics and chart-toppers, and the singer-songwriter’s sweet (but certainly not cloying) overall sound is reminiscent of early 2000s Mandopop in the best way possible. Her self-titled 2018 EP is a skilfully wrought ode to relationships that peels away Yokez’s pastel exterior and unveils the clever songwriter and vocalist contained within.
