Junior Mesa's songs combine a panoply of sounds and styles, emphasizing his multi-instrumentalism and eccentric tastes, which range from psychedelic pop, to funk, ambient, jazz, and experimental lo-fi. Early tracks like "Losing My Grip" and "Creep" helped him build his fan base, but it was 2021's inventive Cirque Du Freak EP that established him as a rising indie star. The Californian continued to earn critical praise for 2023's Quit Your Job, Runaway! It was followed in 2025 by more sonically diverse singles like the dreamy "im not your man" and "Will I Love Again?"
