Ever since his debut album Therukural dropped in 2019, Arivu has been lauded as a torchbearer for conscious rap in India. The hip-hop composer, rapper and singer-songwriter pulls no punches when it comes to tackling sensitive political themes in his music. Following some major film and music projects over the past five years, his second full-length record is as powerful as his first. Across 12 tracks, he engages with drill (“Thodaadha”), thumps with EDM (“Thathaka”) and peppers Tamil folk hues throughout. “Raasaathi” breaks new ground too as it mixes Punjabi and Tamil in its thought-provoking lyrics.
