La nativa de Filadelfia Jill Scott fue escuchada por Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson, de the Roots, quien la invitó a unirse a la banda en el estudio, lo que resultó en la coautoría de "You Got Me", un hit del Top 40 de 1999.
