Split Chain

The thick guitar crunch and swirl of England's hard-driving Split Chain can be described as "nu gaze," a catchall term used to describe those 21st century groups influenced by the first wave of shoegaze acts in the 1980s and '90s. But it also takes on a double meaning: the group are equally influenced by American offshoots of alt-rock including grunge and nu metal -- a diverse, distinct style they've called "dreamo." This alt-rock revival has caught on well with worldwide audiences, boosting early singles like 2023's "Future," "Chalk," and "Get Inside" as well as their 2025 debut album, Motionblur, their first full-length for the venerated Epitaph label.
