Nick Heyward

Nick Heyward made his mark early with the sophisticated pop of Haircut One Hundred and their timeless hit "Love Plus One," but he's continued on as an eternally sunny, literate, and nuanced singer/songwriter. After leaving Haircut One Hundred while they were in the flush of success, he embarked on a solo career that initially carried on with a similarly light and poppy sound, and his first record North of a Miracle was a big hit in his native U.K. Further albums didn't reach the same height commercially, but they showed off his skills as a crafter of lovely pop music influenced by the Beatles, and by the mid-'90s, he found himself in the thick of Brit-pop. Later he reunited with Haircut One Hundred on a sporadic basis, released a fine solo album in 2017, Woodland Echoes, and in 2026 he made the reunion more permanent with the second Haircut One Hundred album to feature his voice and songs, Boxing the Compass.
