About Mindi Abair
Mindi Abair is a contemporary jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. Her sound forms an umbrella over the genres of pop, R&B, blues, and funk. She established an reputation early on for solid musicianship as a session player and while leading her own working group. Since 1999, she has recorded as a leader and continued playing sessions. 2006's Life Less Ordinary and 2014's Wild Heart both netted Grammy nods. 2018's No Good Deed, her third album leading Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers, won eight Independent Blues Awards. In 2022, after four albums with the Boneshakers, she released the solo project Forever. Self-produced, it crisscrossed jazz, pop, country, R&B, and blues, and featured her singing alongside her saxophone playing. Three years later she released Based On a True Story, collaborating with a host of guests including Delisha Thomas, Marcus Miller, and Bobby Lyle.
