Selects is where the world’s best DJs and producers showcase their favourite tracks of any given moment, new and old, with no format restrictions. For DJ Bone, the invitation inspired him to go back in time. “I titled this playlist Origins + Timeless Music because I wanted to reach back to my roots and share what inspired me growing up in Detroit,” the techno DJ tells Apple Music. “From a small kid into adulthood, music was always a driving force for me.” His lineup features legendary names including Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Prince and Luther Vandross, as well as pioneering electronic acts (think Massive Attack and Kraftwerk) and Detroit heavyweights, from Model 500 to DJ Bone himself. “I was heavily inspired by radio, especially The Electrifying Mojo, so a freeform, multi-genre mindset was instilled in me early on,” he says. “These songs are a window into my origins and moving forward.”
