ASP

German goth rock quartet ASP formed in Frankfurt in 1999. The group took its name from frontman Asp, born Alexander Spreng, who co-founded the project with guitarist Matze (Matthias Ambré). In the summer of 2000 the ASP lineup expanded to include bassist Tossi (Andreas Gross) and drummer Himmi (Oliver Himmighoffen), as well as backing vocalists Max (Marcus Testory) and Holger Hartgen. ASP's debut LP, Hast Du Mich Vermisst? arrived in 2000, and in the spring of 2001, the group played a series of festivals, building a devoted fan base that would follow the group through 2007's chart-topping Requiembryo. ~ Jason Ankeny
