About Akhtamar Quartet

The Akhtamar Quartet is a Franco-Belgian string quartet, and consistent with their strong interest in Armenian contemporary and folk music, their name references a character in Armenian folklore. The quartet is committed to commissioning and recording contemporary composers' works, such as Enluminures by Judith Adler de Oliveira and Anzhamanak by Jelena Dabić. In their programming, they combine high technical ability with thoughtful ethical commitments. A major goal has been to bring classical music to new audiences, especially children and the infirm. Akhtamar Quartet has given creatively designed concerts in schools and hospitals. They also maintain an active presence in the major concert halls of Belgium, France, Italy, and the U.S., traveling as far as China to spread their passion for music. Their three albums, Légende Arménienne (2020), Enluminures (2023), and Dvořák, Dabić: Origins (2025), were all released on Cypres Records.
