Crippling Alcoholism

Boston-based noise rock group Crippling Alcoholism fold in gothic rock, darkwave, and New Order-esque synths to create a sound they refer to as murder pop. Even at its most inviting, their music covers themes of violence, addiction, and destruction. The band was formed in 2022 by Tony Castrati after going through a particularly destructive bout of alcoholism, directly inspiring the band name in an act of raw transparency that would come to define their output. They quickly formulated their debut album, 2022's When the Drugs That Made You Sick Are the Drugs That Make You Better. The next couple of years were a little tumultuous, albeit productive, with multiple line-up changes. A second album emerged, 2024's With Love from a Padded Room. Despite the disruptions, they released their breakout album, 2025's Camgirl.
