Jacob Young

Norwegian guitarist Jacob Young is a lyrical, nuanced improviser, bandleader, and first call sideman. His albums showcase a deeply poetic, harmonically expansive, often subtly articulated approach to modern jazz. He is influenced in equal parts by Jim Hall and John Abercrombie. Young first gained attention during the mid-'90s playing with vocalist Karin Krog. He issued three highly regarded albums for ECM including 2004's Evening Falls, 2008's Sideways, as well as 2018's Last Things. 2020's Chasing Sunsets with vocalist Siril M. Hauge appearted on Oslo Recordings. Young returned to ECM in trio with bassist Mats Eilertsen and drummer Audun Kleive to release Eventually in 2023. Two years later, he joined Argentine bandoneon legend Dino Saluzzi and his classical guitarist son José Maria Saluzzi to record and release El Viejo Caminante on ECM.
