Maruja

Playing an intriguing blend of post-punk, jazz, hip-hop, art rock, and noise rock, Maruja are a British ensemble who bring a sophisticated kind of sonic exploration to the frameworks of rock music. Featuring the inventive saxophone work of Joe Carroll, Maruja took their music in an angular direction with funk accents on early releases like 2017's Explicit Trickery. With 2023's Knocknarea, their performances became more dynamic and atmospheric, and 2025's Tir na nÓg gave their jazz influences greater room, while still conjuring evocative noise.
