Coming from a famous family of artists—which includes Ehud, Yossi and Eviatar Banai—Meir made his own way in the ‘80s as a unique songwriter of energetic ballads and a bold, passionate vocalist. Banai's debut, 1984's The First Album, set the stage for one of Israeli rock's longest-running careers. More than three decades later, Banai continued to be a musical pioneer, whether he was playing guitar-driven rock, tender piano ballads or Mizrahi-influenced pop. And cuts like “Geshem (Rain)” demonstrate that Banai could really nail a powerful chorus.
