Pennsylvania deathcore crew The Last Ten Seconds of Life turn out a cameo-studded crusher for their eighth album. The Dead Ones boasts guest shots from David Simonich of Signs of the Swarm (“Make It to Heaven”), former Fit for An Autopsy vocalist Nate Johnson (“Rat Trap”), Alan Grnja of Distant (“Dollar to a Dime”) and the band’s own original vocalist Storm Strope (“XXXXXXXXXX”). Lyrically, the album continues the theme of death and rebirth from 2024’s No Name Graves, but with a focus on the band members’ personal struggles as opposed to fictional scenarios. And it’s all incredibly heavy, with an emphasis on ultra-low frequencies enhanced by the band’s drop-F guitar tuning, as heard on the title track and “1-800-DO YOU WANT TO DIE?”.
