In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My two earliest musical memories are learning to play the fiddle from my grandpa and dancing in the living room while my dad played piano. Music was what made them happiest. These moments felt like being allowed into something very special. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Nina Simone, High Priestess of Soul Originals Susana Baca, Eco de Sombras The Gloaming, Live at the Nch Eco de Sombras has been my most listened album for years - full of real heart and the perfect companion to life for me. For someone who loves traditional Irish music, The Gloaming are true masters. Nina Simone is truth, power, courage and honesty. Peia)” This is a song for women to remember our strength and sacredness. I wrote it as a reminder of the kind of woman I want to be, but over the years, so many women have shared the strength it gives them. That’s what inspires me to keep doing this. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? A sold out concert in São Paulo at Teatro Municipal. Playing in an iconic space where my idols have played was so moving. The audience was so warm. I ended up in the hospital afterwards, so it felt extra special that I was able to be on that stage. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? On my bucket list is to keep growing, to keep finding what is fresh and alive and feels true and important to put into the world. I love the milestones but mostly I just want the music to keep getting better, richer and more true.
