As adept as Kevin Parker is at crafting outsider psych rock, he also offers more intimate work that brings us gently into his self-produced microcosm. “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” is a sighing romantic lament that still offers glimpses of hope, while “Yes I’m Changing” applies soothing synth tones to its autobiographical portrait of looming emotional growth. Remixes of Tame Impala songs add an extra layer of rhythmic entrancement, and Parker has applied some of those lessons to originals like “Oblivion”.
