Singer/songwriter Laleh Pourkarim's brand of deliberate and distinguished pop has seen her compared to British superstars Sting and Seal. She broke onto the scene in 2005 with her eponymous self-produced album Laleh, which reached the top of the charts in Sweden. Sjung, released in 2012, included the single “Some Die Young"—a hit across Scandinavia with its swooping, broad-brush melodies. Laleh's more recent offerings bear her hallmark ethereal vocals and arrangements, while paying heed to more esoteric influences such as Enya and Björk.
