Bangkok quartet Blackbeans refine the art of sublimely understated indie pop with their 2022 EP Halfway To Heaven, the follow-up to the previous year’s ambient-leaning Photosynthesis. Picking up from the latter’s natural themes and peaceful atmospherics, the band’s escapist vision blossoms in six lilting serenades inspired by Mother Earth—and the love and life abounding on it. The unhurried melodic flow of these songs offers respite from everyday noise and gives even moments of pain and heartache a feeling of transcendence.
