About Aterciopelados

The Colombian rock unit Los Aterciopelados was formed in Bogotá by singer/guitarist Andrea Echeverry and bassist Héctor Buitrago, who together previously teamed in the group Delia y Los Aminoácidos. With guitarist Charlie Márquez and drummer Andrés Giraldo, Los Aterciopelados debuted in 1994 with El Corazon en La Mano; by the time of sessions the for 1995's El Dorado, Giraldo had been replaced by drummer Alejandro Duque, with guitarist Alejandro Gómez Cáceres substituting for Márquez by 1997's Pipa de La Paz. Caribe Atomico followed a year later. ~ Jason Ankeny
