After departing acclaimed norteño act Calibre 50, Eden Muñoz spent the next three years honing his craft into a truly formidable one. On 2024’s semi-eponymous Eden, the Sinaloan singer reached new heights while experimenting with different forms. For its follow-up, Piedras a la Luna, he takes further steps to demonstrate his música mexicana prowess and secure his status as a genre great. A handful of these songs previously appeared on the EP-length stopgap singles set Lejos Estamos Mejor, including the track of the same name, though others like the title track and his vibrant cover of Grupo La Concentración’s “Me Ando Enamorando” build upon that energy. He shrewdly limits the guest list to Óscar Maydon, who dutifully enhances their baddie paean “La Dama”. Otherwise, this is fully a product of Muñoz’s musical domain, as with the evocative “Qué Bonito Es Lo Bonito” or the embittered yet witty “Maldito Dinero”.
