OBOY

France has its own mumble rap scene and Oboy is one of its foremost practitioners. He first emerged as part of the Way Boto collective as a teenager, debuting on their 2016 mixtape Hoverboard. He struck out on his own in 2018, issuing the EPs Olyside and Southside, drawing further inspiration from cloud and trap subgenres. Full-length debut Omega followed in 2019, then the EP Mafana in 2020 yielded a Top Five hit with “Cabeza.” His sophomore effort No crari, issued two years later, was the true breakthrough. It featured the chart-topping, diamond-certified single “TDB” and the Top Five hit “Louis V.” Third album Olyboy was released in the spring of 2025, becoming his second Top Five album.
