About Matt Maeson
American singer-songwriter Matt Maeson makes modern bluesy indie-folk fueled by his unusual Christian upbringing. ∙ Growing up, Maeson played music as part of the ministry of his family, convicts-turned-evangelists who preached at a variety of places, including prisons and biker rallies. ∙ While working a construction job, he wrote songs about his often-intense personal experiences and began posting them online. ∙ In 2016, his first tour was funded by Communion, a music support organization cofounded by Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons. ∙ He signed a major label deal in 2017 and released his debut EP, Who Killed Matt Maeson. ∙ The singles “Cringe” and “Hallucinogenics”—from his 2019 album, Bank on the Funeral—both topped Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart.
