About Julian Lage
Julian Lage is a guitarist, composer, and bandleader who boasts a long résumé as a desired sideman with artists ranging from Gary Burton to John Zorn. His own releases as a leader are versed in jazz, classical, pop, folk, and rock. Sounding Point, his 2009 debut, was nominated for a Grammy Award and his records have remained both acclaimed and diverse. He's worked with guitarist Nils Cline, made an album of pre-bop covers (2016's Arclight), enlisted Bill Frisell on 2002's View with a Room, and on 2024's Speak to Me, his guitar was featured a variety of musical settings from solo to large band. On 2026's Scenes from Above, he once again showed his diverse skills on a set of songs that touched on Americana, funk, and straight ahead jazz.
