About Manuel Teles
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is spending hours with friends transcribing solos and arranging songs to play together. It was simple, naive, and joyful, yet those moments as a kid deeply shaped my creativity and passion for making music. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Carlos do Carmo, Maria João Pires, Maria João Pires / Carlos do Carmo Hansjörg Schellenberger, Mario Marzi, Orchestra Sinfonica Di Milano G. Verdi, The Art of Saxophone Philip Glass, Ravi Shankar, Shankar & Glass: Passages Maria J. Pires and C. do Carmo in a refined and refreshingly original interpretation of fado; Mario Marzi unveils some of the most important saxophone repertoire masterfully; and Shankar & Glass unite East and West in a celestial artistic dialogue. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Tracce (Version for Alto Saxophone)” Tracce by Luca Francesconi, from my solo album, is special to me because it marked a turning point in my artistic path. Preparing it pushed me to make bold interpretative choices, and it now feels like the piece that best represents my musical voice. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments in my career was sharing the stage with some of my musical heroes - an experience that reminded me why I play music: to connect, learn, and grow through sound and collaboration. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I feel I’m just beginning. I want to keep collaborating with artists from diverse cultures, record many more albums, and stay endlessly curious like a kid with a saxophone in his hands, always eager to learn and explore more and more!
