After previously exploring his cultural identity, King Lutendo dives deeper into his understanding of self on his sophomore EP. "This album is a redefinition of what it means to have heart", he tells Apple Music. "It's not about what you can do for the next person—it's more of an internal affair." MBILU combines high-brow art with visceral lyricism and synth-based production rooted deeply in his heritage. While "Nubian Queen" & "Mulalo" explore love and inner peace, it's the percussive electronics of "Rain & Thunder" that embody Lutendo's ethos. With the line "I've loved so dearly—enemies, they fear me", "Walk with Light" alludes to an internal, transcendent grace. "When you learn to love wholeheartedly, no one can have power over you", Lutendo says—from the heart.
