About Richard Andersson

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is attending my first jazz concert as a teenager in Vejle—Alex Riel Trio at the local jazz club. Something about that experience resonated with me, sparking a lifelong passion for jazz. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Anne Efternøler, Anne Efternøler & Lige Børn Jimmy Giuffre, The Easy Way Ornette Coleman, Something Else!!!! (The Music of Ornette Coleman) [2011 Remaster] I chose these 3 albums to show my journey from the subtle yet deeply grooving swing and mesmerizing interplay over blends of folk and jazz into a rich, adventurous sound to free jazz that reshaped how I think about improvisation and musical freedom. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Deconstructing Mr. X” I love this song. It's the most challenging and fun tune to play with my trio with the great Jeff "Tain" Watts and Carl Winther. It's quite energetic and groovy. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my most unforgettable career moments was performing solo for 800 people at the Danish Music Awards Jazz in a packed Store Vega, Copenhagen. Standing alone on that stage was both humbling and exhilarating. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I dream of touring even more internationally—especially in the U.S. There’s something truly special about connecting with audiences around the world and experiencing different jazz scenes firsthand.
