Born Joshua Xavier Gutierrez in Phoenix, Arizona, he began playing the guitar and writing songs when he was just a preteen, citing Mexican acts like Sin Bandera as inspiration. He embarked on his professional singing career in 2020, with exuberant singles like "Amigos con Derecho" and "Vete Ya” helping him earn a deal with Interscope Records. He added to the buzz with his debut EP, My Mom's Playlist. The project included "La Victima", a tale of heartbreak that quickly gained social media attention. With his blend of earnest lyricism and soundscapes that reflect the classical sounds of música mexicana, Xavi’s most popular songs attain social media ubiquity while helping crystallise his status as a premier voice of his genre.
