Omar Camacho

Mexican regional rising star Omar Camacho was born in 2007 in San Diego but raised in Tijuana and spent most of his formative years going back and forth across the border, under the double influence of U.S. hip-hop and traditional norteño music. While in his teens, Camacho started uploading videos of himself playing covers of other artists, gathering enough attention to land a contract with Óscar Maydon's Rico o Muerto Music label when he had just turned 18 years old. Maydon's strategy of pairing his young upstart with more established artists paid off almost immediately: barely a few months into his professional career, in June 2025 Camacho had a monster hit with "2+2" featuring Victor Mendivil, a leading figure in the business of blending corrido storytelling with urban styles such as dembow, rap, and reggaeton. More of the same followed, as Camacho went from total unknown to accumulating more than 500 million streams in the next six months.
