About Gukie
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I grew up in Nigeria playing the flute, drawn to how sound could fill space and create emotion. After moving to Canada, I explored other instruments like drums, learning about rhythm, melody, and connection, which shaped how I create music today. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Drake, Views KAYTRANADA, 99.9% Pete Rock, Petestrumentals 2 Petestrumentals by Pete Rock, More Life by Drake, and 99% by Kaytranada. These albums collectively shaped my ear for music, showcasing how diverse production and intentional sonics can still feel deeply personal. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Fear Of Crashing” It used to be "Let Me Fall" for its timeless pop and R&B feel, I still love it but now it’s "Fear of Crashing". It's a personal and vulnerable moment for me, grounding my past and present while setting the tone for where I’m headed with my new album. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my most memorable moments was collaborating with Dizzy Wright and Mark Battles on my album. They were artists I listened to while finding myself in Canada, so creating music with them now feels like a full circle moment. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Touring the world with my music is at the top of my bucket list, connecting with people face to face through my sound and story. To fully build my music and clothing brand between Calgary and Nigeria, using my art to bridge both places and cultures.
