For her contribution to the 2021 edition of Carols Covered—Apple Music’s collection of Christmas standards updated by contemporary artists—singer-songwriter Barbara Pravi chose “Ave Maria”, a song that transports her to a childhood listening to legendary French singers with her family. “The voice of Charles Aznavour reminds me of Christmas with my grandfather,” Pravi says. “I don't know why, but all the old French songs—Charles Aznavour, Jacques Brel, Barbara—remind me of my grandfather and grandmother. So I think singing ‘Ave Maria’ from Charles Aznavour makes me feel closer to the child I was.”
