I downloaded this app right before summer on accident 3 months ago 😂 Fast-forward to today My entire house hold is a obsessed with creating fun and interactive content on flick play 🤩🥳 I have 5 kids all different ages from a toddler to 4 teenagers. We spent all summer long searching for collectibles on the map and flexing our flicky videos 😁.This app has something entertaining for the whole family ❤️ This app is the future and that future is now. There are two main features that I love here:1. how easy it is to make a video with digital characters in my day to day life2. getting a passive income just because I created a video and people are giving me & earning coins every time they play the in-app game attached to my content.

The onboarding of this “game” is SUPER heavy handed. First, there’s an expensive onboarding video of fake content that you can’t skip before you do anything. The video moves too fast to even explain anything. Then, before you can even get past the first screen you have to give access to your camera & microphone, share your location, and turn on push notifications. Why would I do this? I don’t even know what the app does yet. Then, the app forces you to start creating a video. Again, I don’t know what the app does or where the video will be shown, why would I do this. The app doesn’t even allow you to skip or close this either. I just deleted the app.
As-of-yet Unrealized Potential

The premise is pretty interesting, but I’m mostly disappointed by the inability to hunt for collectibles in the real world. looking at the map, thus far only LA and NYC have anything to collect without outright purchasing via in-game currency (so Ohio is a no-go). As a platform that’s essentially TikTok meets Pokémon-as-NFTs Go, I’m confused why the collectibles aren’t procedurally/randomly generated across the map, instead of individually selected spots for people privileged to live in the two major cultural hubs of the states—further disadvantaging the majority of potential users from the jump.
