This app touts itself as the PDF Reader for Research and yet it doesn’t have a basic "go to page" feature! Are you kidding me?! While it has some enhancements and niceties you wouldn’t expect from a standard PDF reader app, it’s missing basic features that every PDF reader under the sun has. This app will surely make you pull your hair. Just stick to PDF Expert or the built-in Preview app instead.

Dark appearance for PDFs! Smart content handling gives your PDFs light text on a dark background without changing images and annotations. This can reduce eye strain and improve readability in dark environments while conserving battery life. To try it out: open a PDF document and go to Settings from the More menu in the top right corner, then set Auto Dark as your Appearance. The setting is also available in the menu bar on iPad under View. The Auto Dark setting will automatically match the PDF appearance to the system appearance. No more glaring white pages in Dark Mode!
The new dark appearance for PDFs requires a device running iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 set to Dark Mode.

The big iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 update combined with a completely new way of annotating using the Apple Pencil!
Launch the document scanner directly from the new Control Center widget or from a lock screen control by replacing the camera or torchlight buttons. Try the new app icons with a dark look that can automatically switch with Dark Mode or tint the app icon and Home Screen widget to match your favorite color.
Annotate like a pro using the new Apple Pencil Pro. Squeeze your Apple Pencil Pro to bring up a floating tool palette right where your pencil tip is. The Apple Pencil Pro provides haptic feedback when the gesture is recognized and the new hover preview lets you see the selected color and tool before your tip touches the screen.
These new Apple Pencil features require an iPad running iPadOS 17.5 or newer. Hover preview works with any Apple Pencil except the 1st generation. The floating tool palette requires an Apple Pencil Pro or the Apple Pencil 2nd generation (with the Double-tap gesture in Highlights set to Tool Palette in Settings > Apple Pencil).
Minor improvement:
- Fixed an issue with widgets disappearing on iOS and iPadOS 17
- Fixed an issue where marking up using Apple Pencil with hover activated would use the default color instead of the selected color for other tools than highlighting

The big iPadOS 16 update! A whole new design optimized for Stage Manager and a desktop-class experience with powerful ways to do even more:
- Customizable toolbars: The center area of the toolbar is fully customizable including functionality previously only available using keyboard commands. Select "Customize Toolbar" from the bottom of the More menu to make it your own.
- Document menu: The document title is always visible in the toolbar and when selected brings up the document menu with easy access to file operations including duplicate, move, rename, print and export actions.
- Thumbnail sidebar: The bottom bar is gone to free up space for more content and replaced by a collapsable sidebar with larger thumbnails similar to on the Mac.
- The segmented control in the center of the toolbar to control the View Mode has been replaced by a sleek button at the trailing end of the toolbar, giving space for customizable items at the center. Tap it for fast switching or long press to see the view options.
- Search is now inline
- A new export menu for fewer taps and a sleeker look
- Settings is now available from the top of the More menu at all times
- New edit menus and text selection popovers with support for light and dark mode
- Improved support for keyboard/pointer navigation
- Added a Help menu inside the More menu
- Lots of minor UI tweaks
In iPadOS 16 you can also collaborate on PDF documents via iCloud links. Just share the document and select Collaborate instead of Send Copy. The documents show up in the new Shared-tab in the document browser. Tapping on the "Shared with You"-button below the document in the document browser will take you directly to the conversation where the document was shared in Messages or Mail.
Minor improvements:
- Added some missing accessibility labels
- The thumbnail selection now only changes in the currently selected window when changing the page with multiple Highlights windows open
- Removed keyboard shortcut for toggling the sidebar on pre iOS 16 releases
2022.6.2 31/10/2022
