The Habits Update: With this update, you may now drink coffee/tea, eat fattening snacks or healthy veggies/fruits, buy cleaning/cooking appliances, or visit coffee shops and tea houses! While at it, we also re-designed how assets are presented, made sure loving parents could take their sick kids to the doctor, and fixed bugs. Update now for new habits!

Quick Fix Update: This quick update fixes the highly deadly malnutrition/dehydration bug from the last update, and also the “Go to work” error some players have experienced.

The Lifestyle Update: In this update, we’ve added diets and their consequences, cooking/farming/survival skills, utilities costs, ambitions, actually enjoyable jobs, employable farm hands, new NPC wants, new tech objects, gendered clothing, influenceable gender identities, new causes of death; plus we’ve made body weight and overall health really matter, improved interactions dramatically, improved the game in many ways and fixed bugs! Update now for a whole new lifestyle experience.

The Better Deaths Update: In this update, we’ve improved how dying works in the game; added symptoms, doctors, healing rituals, non-deadly diseases, activity-related deaths, miscarriages, perimenopause, menopause and, of course, more surprises! A ton of bugs have also been fixed. Update now to get a better death experience!

The T Update: Happy 2026, dear Players! For our very first update for the year, play people and NPCs may now experience being transgender, go through gender-change procedures and take on new gender identities! On top of that, we’ve added more trans-themed media to venues and devices, fixed bugs and sprinkled a dash of new surprises. Update now for the full transformation!

Players’ Requests Update: Want to live in a laboratory? Now you can. On top of that, we’ve fixed bugs and inserted player requests too. Update now to enjoy the improved experience!

The Self-Customisation Update: Many players have been asking for customisation, so here’s customisation! Play people may now use coloured contacts, dye their hair, tan and whiten their skins, go for anti-ageing procedures, and even do plastic surgery. On top of that bugs have been fixed and surprises are in store. Update now to begin customising!

The Gifts Update: Play people may now receive surprise gifts from their parents and spouses beyond childhood. Jewellery and rings have been added to shops. And rich play people may now use bling to persuade reluctant NPCs to date and marry them! Also, lots of bug-fixes and improvement tweaks are in here, plus the usual surprises. Update now to get Gifts!

Maintenance Update: We have tweaked the UI for certain features, made functional improvements, added São Paulo and other surprises, and fixed a whole lot of player-reported bugs!

The Love Game Update: Play people will catch a case of feelings with this update… meaning there will now be more proposals, anniversary celebrations, dissatisfaction, “the one that got away”, open relationships, adulterers, drama and, of course, brand new consequences! There’s also a sweet bunch of bug fixes for you in here too.

People of the World Update (Part 5): 22 new countries have been added—Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay—along with height and weight averages for every country, to have play people be born with typical body shapes for their country. We have also added new features to the work experience, fixed all bugs reported by players, plus made it way easier to become famous!

The Fame Feels Update: We’ve added more realism to the fame experience in this one—with unattainable celebs, crazy fans, fake friends, clout chasers, trusty bodyguards and many surprises! In response to players’ feedback, we’ve also made it slightly easier to get famous, and fixed a bunch of bugs affecting migration, break ups and part-time employment, among others. Update now to feel it all!

The Drama Professionals Update: Introducing… media and theatre industry careers! Play people may now become directors, scriptwriters, cinematographers, stage designers, etc… and also actors! Get arts degrees and diplomas for these new careers. Search for acting gigs on devices, meet famous actors at work and grow in fame! Many bugs have also been fixed, including the one where grandchildren stop growing when their parents die. In response to players’ feedback, we have also made jobs and childcare even less time-consuming. Update now for all that drama!

The Fame Game Update: Happy 2025, dear players! In this update, we introduce the concept of fame to the game, so that play people and NPCs can now be famous, super famous or even somewhat known. Along with it comes the concept of celebrities, which means famous play people will now be recognised and talked about within their communities! And as always, there are the usual bug fixes and surprises sprinkled in.

The Job Perks Update: Play people now have perks when they hold certain jobs or certs, or have spouses or parents with those jobs or certs (e.g. Lawyers get free law services, Hairstylists give free haircuts, etc). For added perks, we have added an aesthetic clinic, private jets, extracurricular activity perks, and a bunch of surprises! In response to players’ feedback, we have also made it easier for play people to get jobs in the industries that they graduated for, and fixed bugs.

The More Jobs Update Yes, we’ve added a ton of new jobs (doctor, nurse, lawyer, judge, policeman, fireman, teacher, pilot, banker, hairstylist, chef, yoga instructor, etc) to Play This Life, as well as the necessary courses and certifications required for them! While at it, we also made improvements to its tertiary education and job hunting segments, fixed some bugs, added our very first sponsor and threw in a couple of surprises.

The Dollhouse Update: In response to players’ feedback, we’ve reduced the time it takes to apply for jobs and go out. While at it, we also added more faces and hairdos, did game optimisation, and also fixed bugs!

The Language Schools and Citizenships Update: Language schools and citizenships have been set up while some bugs have been fixed!

The Hotels, Hostels and Imaginary Friends Update: We’ve added hotels, hostels, imaginary friends and, as always, some surprises and fixes in response to feedback from our players!

People of the World Update (Part 3+4): We have added the people of Chad, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Tanzania, Yemen, Zambia, Bhutan, Brazil, Indonesia, Myanmar, Peru and Venezuela to Play This Life — and also country names! You can now see which country your play person lives in. In response to players’ feedback, we have also made dating easier and jobs less time-consuming.

The Dating Game Update: Singles events, LGB events and dating apps have been added to make it easier for single play people to date, while a Communication Workshop has been added for play people who struggle with interaction at work and play! As always, surprises are included and more bugs have been sorted too.

The LGB Update: Play people and NPCs may now be lesbian, gay or bisexual! Experience navigating relationships as an LGB individual. Come out to the world, or not; date someone who is out, or not. Watch those closest to you react to your preferences and choose how to react to theirs. Spot the ones inside a closet, uncover secrets… Also, more bugs have been fixed, game tips updated and surprises are included.

The More Babies Update: With our new fertility clinics and traditional healers, your play people now have more baby-making options! Buy sperm and eggs or hire surrogates. Use herbs, medication or get reproductive organ surgery. Just be warned, not everything in this update is going to bring your play people bundles of joy…

The Move In‘n’Out Update: Tired of living at your parents’? Too broke to buy property? Hate being homeless? This update brings to your play self more housing options! Move in with friends or relatives, or ask just about anybody you know to move in with you. Get kicked out or do the kicking! Plus NPCs now have memories, bugs have been fixed and surprises have been sprinkled in. So what are you waiting for? Get movein’!

The Home Life Update: From now on, size and feelings matter. Buying a home that’s too small for your family? You might just end up miserable. Living with people you don’t like? Again, miserable. Fortunately, doing the opposite does make you happier. Plus you can now use the sports facilities, BBQ areas and fireplaces on your properties to cheer yourplayself up.
