There are no retroflex consonants in Cantonese, like sh, tch. And the sound n and l, are usually confused with each other.
There are over 80 million people who speak Cantonese worldwide. Canton is now spelled Guangdong which has become the Guangdong province in southern China. This dialect of Chinese is mutually unintelligible with the standard Chinese because of differences in pronunciation.
