If you’re expecting a Netflix experience, you’re in for a bad surprise. The streaming is unreliable, the image quality poor, and even the subtitles are full of grammatical errors and typos. The interface is convoluted to navigate, for example to continue watching something, you must go to a different section called My List, and half the time on that list, what you started watching doesn’t show up or resets from the beginning. This wouldn’t be as bad, but the app doesn’t even preview where you are when fast-forwarding like in popular streaming apps. Moreover, they remove content without any warning by email or in the app. For example, I still had three episodes remaining in HBO’s Westworld Season 3, and it just disappeared. Bearing in mind that on the same connection, I’m using Netflix 4K HDR, the problem is the streaming system, which not only compresses content poorly, but keeps cutting. The sound is bad and much worse than other popular streaming services. You don’t even get surround sound but poorly compressed stereo. Also, the language settings vary, sometimes it will play by default in English, other times in Arabic (yes yes, for content that is originally in English). In summary, you get bad image quality, no surround sound, no HDR, ongoing errors in subtitles (sometimes they can mislead you, think something that should say ‘is’ is subtitled as ‘isn’t’), the lack of personalization, the sudden loss of content like Westworld, poor navigation and interface. It’s an insult for Disney+ and for HBO. There are other ways to access Disney+ and HBO that offer better image quality, sound and doesn’t have all the frustrations. Unsubscribe.
