RealVision - Close to reality
Do you want to shoot images of the highest quality possible with an iPhone? - Then AcuiCam Pro is for you.
AcuiCam Pro 1.7.4 works with all iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 Standard and Pro series running iOS 18.1 or later.
It is the only app that offers:
The unique RealVision process with Gain Maps in the ISO 21496-1 Standard to deliver EDR (Extended Dynamic Range). RealVision produces Quality Pixels that reveal details, colors, and light in your images, making them look close to the reality you experienced when you shot them. Further, RealVision will automatically add Gain Maps to the camera Viewfinder, older images or images from other apps or external cameras without a Gain Map.
You can adjust the Gain Maps using the Workshop editor to get a balanced and natural result with EDR-capable displays, such as HDR and XDR displays with 1000 nits of brightness or more.
The Event Album system. Here you can create albums to organise images from e.g. family gatherings, birthdays, travels, etc. This feature helps you keep all relevant photos from a specific event in one place, making it easier to find them within this app and the Photos app for further editing and/or sharing. You can create, rename and select to save to Album(s) in the Viewfinder and the Workshop, and select which Album(s) to view in Image Selector.
But don’t just take our word for it - download AcuiCam Pro for free and see for yourself.
AcuiCam Pro is a professional Camera & Editor app that is simple, elegant and intuitive. It supports Apple ProRAW, Deep Fusion, Macro and much more.
AcuiCam Pro is designed to bring you into focus and let you compose and shoot stunning images.
That means you can select the relevant RealVision Preset, point and shoot to get high-quality images without further editing.
When you are a professional or dedicated amateur photographer who wants to fine-tune your images to perfection, use the built-in Workshop editor with a collection of custom-made enhancement tools.
Each time you shoot an image, AcuiCam Pro processes it automatically. That means, “What you see is what you get” - in both the Viewfinder, Preview and the auto-saved HEIC image. You can share this image(s) directly with family, friends and the world by tapping the More and Share buttons in the Image Selector.
You can select to shoot in either STD (Standard) or ProRAW mode. Then AcuiCam Pro saves a Master image you can edit non-destructively in the built-in Workshop editor.
Try the fully functional Workshop editor and experience how to fine-tune your images to perfection and save 1 image a day for free. To get unrestricted access to save all your edited images, please use the in-app purchase.
An edited STD or ProRAW Master image can be saved as a HEIC, JPG, or MP4 Still Image Movie for sharing or use on websites. Finally, you can save the Master image as a lossless PNG for high-quality printing.
AcuiCam Pro cannot make poor images look good, but it can make great images appear close to reality!

more - We have significantly enhanced the quality and user features of the Gain Maps used in AcuiCam Pro.
Similar to Apple, AcuiCam Pro utilizes the ISO 21496-1 Gain Map Standard, which Apple refers to as an Adaptive Gain Map. However, AcuiCam Pro also implements its own proprietary Gain Map technology called SBS GM3.
By blending the Adaptive Gain Map with SBS GM3 using our new Base Light slider, we deliver a unique solution that amplifies bright light sources like sunlight and other lighting elements, enhancing the dynamic range in highlight areas while providing superior image quality with enhanced detail definition throughout the entire image.
Additionally, this technology adds Extended Dynamic Range to both the camera Viewfinder and images that don’t already contain a Gain Map. It supports STD, ProRAW, and EXT RAW formats, with the final blended Gain Map saved in the ISO 21496-1 Standard.
Further, the HDR10 and Dolby Vision Still Image Videos has got a more balanced dynamic range.
Moreover, we have added Tone Mapping in the Viewfinder and in the Workshop to make the images look correct without burning out the highlights.
- Finally, we have resolved multiple bugs and implemented various general improvements.

1.6.1 01/05/2024
RealVision has entered the League of Light.
- RealVision now uses Gain Maps to deliver EDR (Extended Dynamic Range) in its presets and Workshop editor. This feature works with STD, ProRAW and EXT (external RAW) images.
The Gain Map (luminance map) amplifies the bright light from the sun and other light sources on an EDR-capable display to enhance the dynamic range of the highlight areas.
EDR-capable displays mean: SDR / HDR displays with a minimum of 500 nits; for optimal results, use HDR / XDR displays with 1000 to 2000 nits of light.
- AcuiCam Pro is the only app that allows you to adjust the Bright- and Diffused Light using the built-in Workshop editor to achieve a balanced and natural result on EDR-capable displays. You can save the result as HEIC (iOS 17 only) or JPG images by using the Modify Existing or Save option in the Workshop editor.
Bright Light
Adjust the image brightness level of the highlight areas to enhance the dynamic range.
Diffused Light
Adjust the amount of diffused light in the scene to match the highlight areas.
Non-EDR-capable displays and prints will show RealVision processed images without the Gain Map effect.
- Note: Preview does not have EDR turned on by default. But you can go to iOS Settings, scroll down to AcuiCam Pro, tap on the app icon and turn on “Use EDR Preview”. Beware: This is an Experimental feature at the moment.
- When using the “Compare” button in Workshop to compare the processed image with the default Apple image. The default Apple image was displayed in the wrong size when the image was shot with a 2x lens in 48 MP. This bug has now been fixed.
- Several general improvements and bug fixes.
- AcuiCam Pro now requires iOS 15 or later to run, and is optimised for iOS 17.
1.6 22/01/2024
RealVision has been enhanced to process more quickly, and the visual differences between STD and ProRAW have been further minimized.
1.5.1 21/08/2023
- We have developed a new version of RealVision to improve the image quality - close to reality.
- We have even taken it one step further by adding the possibility to shoot with 1x and 2x focal lengths in 48 MP format in STD and ProRAW on the iPhone 14 Pro series. It needs to be seen.
- When making these improvements, we thought we could just as well optimise the RealVision presets and add a new one called Low Light. That means you now have 5 presets to choose from on all supported iPhones starting with iPhone XS and all later.
- Further, the Viewfinder image has been optimised to look closer to the processed image.
- The ND tool has got a new icon, and Clarity has been renamed Texture.
- Finally, we have made several bug fixes, optimisations and performance improvements.
- We hope you will enjoy this new powerful version 1.5 of AcuiCam Pro.
1.5 22/06/2023
- AcuiCam Pro has got full support for iPhone 14 & 14 Pro.
- We have added a Lock Screen Widget where you can set AcuiCam Pro to open directly from the Lock Screen.
- We have made a fast Format selector on the Capture screen where you can choose between 12 MP STD & ProRAW or 48 MP STD & ProRAW.
12 MP STD & ProRAW saves a 12 MP Master plus a 12 MP RealVision processed image.
48 MP STD & ProRAW saves a 48 MP Master plus a 24 MP RealVision processed image.
We have chosen to work with 24 MP on iPhone 14 Pro because it’s a more convenient image size to handle than 48 MP, and it uses less storage space. But also because this format size delivers high-quality images on all screens from iPhone to a 4K TV or even a 5K Mac screen.
48 MP files are only needed for large prints or large screen projections. Otherwise, you will not be able to see the difference. If you need this, you can export the 48 MP Master files and edit them in an external editor.
- Further, we have made a fast Format selector on the Capture screen where you can choose between 12 MP STD & ProRAW formats for iPhone 12 Pro & 13 Pro, which saves a 12 MP Master plus a 12 MP RealVision processed image.
- The RealVision presets have been improved for better results.
- The 4x lens in The Fixed Focal Lens selector has been removed to maintain better quality, though you can still Zoom 5x.
- The EV adjustment numbers have been moved to be a part of the Metering / Exposure button.
- The Aspect selector in Settings and Workshop has got the 16:9 aspect replaced with 5:4 instead.
- The Macro icon has been moved to the top of the screen, and the Macro feature has been optimised.
- General improvements and bug fixes.
1.4 16/04/2023
- We have fine-tuned RealVision for both STD (Standard) and ProRAW mode, so you can enjoy shooting stunning images of the best quality you can get with an iPhone.
- Further, we have made some minor bug fixes and general optimising.
- Finally, we are working on the next version with support for the new features in iPhone 14 & 14 Pro.
1.3.3 29/09/2022
We have improved the contrast in RealVision for even better realism.
1.3.2 26/08/2022
- We have solved the problem with unacceptable halos, which often occur along edges in objects, e.g. houses, in ProRAW files due to Apple’s heavy processing.
- We have further improved the Acuihance image process. And changed its name to RealView to reflect what it really does: Making your images closer to resembling the reality you experienced when you shot them.
- At the same time, we have optimised the Detail tool and changed its name to Clarity.
- Further, the Exposure tool in the Workshop editor has been fine-tuned for better quality.
- Finally, we have done some minor bug fixes.
1.3.1 10/07/2022
- We have found and crushed a nasty bug in ProRAW Capture that prevented ProRAW files from being saved.
- AcuiCam Pro has got a great new feature called Straight Horizon. You can turn it on and off in Settings. It automatically gives you a straight horizon when you hold your iPhone within +/- 10 degrees from being in level.
- We have added the possibility for Faster Shooting in STD mode. You can turn it on and off in Settings when you need it.
- The Preset Selector in Capture has got a new set of button icons that make it easier to recognise their function and an updated description in the info-box.
- We have designed a new Image Selector that makes it super easy to select images for sharing, export and for opening in the Workshop for further editing.
- The info-box for Preview and Image Selector has also been redesigned to make it easy to see what the different features are doing and how to use them.
- Finally, we have made some general improvements and bug fixes.
1.3 21/05/2022
- We have added a new preset to the Acuihance Pro selector in the Viewfinder. It's called Acuihance Pro+LED. It makes your images look real when shooting indoors in LED light. The B&W preset has been improved and moved to Settings, where you can turn it on and off. That means B&W now works combined with the 4 presets in the Acuihance Pro selector.
- A new ND tool (Neutral Density) has been added to the Workshop editor. It imitates a physical ND filter that can reduce the brightness in an overexposed image. It's also a part of the Acuihance Pro+LED preset and can be used to fine-tune this.
- Further, we have added the ability to shoot Macro images - well, it has actually been there all the time. But we have improved it and given it a flower icon that turns on in the Viewfinder when you reach the closest useable focus distance. Macro works with iPhone 11 series and all later models.
- Finally, we have made some general improvements and bug fixes.
1.2 03/01/2022
- We have added a new preset to the Acuihance Pro selector in the Viewfinder. It's called Color+Overcast. It makes your images look real on days when the sky is overcast.
- Detail enhancement has been added to the automatic Acuihance Pro processing when shooting in ProRAW for maximum quality.
- Further, we have added a new tap in Settings where you can turn ProRAW on and off - Set the quality of the ProRAW file and turn off the Detail enhance for faster processing if needed.
- Finally, we have improved the Temp and Tint tools and made some bug fixes.
1.1.1 30/11/2021
- We have designed a new version of the Acuihance process that simply delivers the best photo quality possible with an iPhone. We call it Acuihance Pro*, and it even works automatically.
- That means you just need to point and shoot to get high-quality images right away. Or you can go a step further and fine-tune your images in the Workshop editor for perfection. This makes AcuiCam Pro the right choice for everyone - amateurs and professionals alike.
- *Acuihance Pro produces quality images much closer to resembling the reality you experienced when you shot them.
- Further, we have added a new Acuihance Pro selector in the Viewfinder. Here you can choose between 3 presets: Color, Color+Polarise and B&W.
- Moreover, we have improved the Polarise and Detail tools and added Soft Focus - a new tool perfect for beautiful portraits and more. Learn more about AcuiCam Pro on our website.
- Finally, we have made a number of general improvements.
1.1 15/11/2021
- We have significantly enhanced the quality and user features of the Gain Maps used in AcuiCam Pro.
