AFK Arena’s blend of role-playing and idle gameplay continues in sequel AFK Journey, with fresh storylines, visuals and ways to play. Here’s what you’ll be in for when you dive in.
Wonderful Esperia
AFK Journey is set in the vast and beautiful realm of Esperia, where you’re free to roam and explore. Playing as the powerful Magister Merlin, you’ll be lending your assistance to a talking hamster knight named Chippy as it navigates one strange occurrence after another.
Make your way across the fairytale–inspired landscape and discover the many different kingdoms. The fantastical friends you make will keep you company along the way.
Every detail matters in Esperia, including the season and the time of day. The highly interactive map is peppered with surprises such as good ol’ treasure chests. But the road to riches is never easy!
Defeat sneaky foes nearby or locate handy tools such as explosive barrels to clear the obstacles in your way. To find your next treasure chest, try using the map in the upper right corner of your screen. Bonus tip: it will also show you where the teleporting waystones are.
Terrain matters
To progress further in the storyline, follow the lit-up path on the map and clear levels to keep advancing. Battles are fought automatically, but it’s up to you to select competent heroes and plan a fail-proof formation before the action commences.
The terrain of your battlefield will play a big part in your tactics. High walls, for example, could separate your team as well as your opponents. A Marksman who’s left to deal with an enemy Warrior by themselves could spell disaster.
If you’re finding it hard to get to the next level, set the game aside for a while and let your characters continue to gather resources. By the time you return, you’ll be able to give your heroes some upgrades before giving that pesky level another try.
As you join your heroes on the frontline and progress through the main storyline, you’ll collect different artifacts to unlock ability-boosting spells. The bigger your collection, the more formidable your party will be.
